Love-A-Thon: Who Am I Questionaire

loveathon

Hi everyone! This is the first book blog event that I’m participating in, and Love-a-Thon seems like the perfect one to start with. For those who do not know, Love-a-Thon is an event hosted by Alexa (Alex Loves Books), Cee (The Novel Hermit), Hazel (Stay Bookish), and Mel (The Daily Prophecy). As said on Hazel’s blog, “The Love-a-Thon is an event dedicated to spreading positivity and love. It’s time dedicated to visiting other bloggers/Instagrammers/BookTubers, leaving a comment or two, making new friends and fostering positivity among the members of our amazing community. As in the previous years, the event will include mini challenges, Twitter chats and giveaways galore!”

To start this event off, we’re supposed to tell everyone who we are. So without further ado…

What’s your name:  Nicole

Where in the world are you blogging from:  I’m from the United States. More specifically, I’m from the midwest.

How did you get into blogging in the first place:  Well, I’ve always been a journal/diary writer, but when I was going into college, I didn’t want to write in a diary anymore. But I still wanted to write. That’s when I found Tumblr, and my life forever changed. I started out just writing about my life (and nonexistent love life) before getting involved with fandoms. Then I found blogs where people wrote and talked about books, like all the time. Their blogs were fantastic! I realized that was something I could do as well. Even if I didn’t get a lot of readers, it’s a way for me to keep track of the books I love or didn’t love, books I’m looking forward to reading, and books that I’m trying to find. That’s really how I got into blogging and then book blogging.

How did you come up with your blog name:  So, this blog was originally called Adventure Under the Stairs. I’ve given an explanation for that name in my About Me page, but basically, I’m a huge Harry Potter fan (Ravenclaws for the win!) and Harry’s adventure started when he got a letter addressed to him saying “The Cupboard Under the Stairs.” Well, I took that and made my name. However, this past January, I had a blog revamp and became A Library of Sorts. It suits me and this blog better, plus it helps potential readers realize what my blog is actually about. My blog is a library (of sorts) since it’s a collection of reviews, ramblings, and whatnots all on books.

What genre do you read and review the most:  YA is definitely my most read and reviewed. To be more specific, I read a lot of fantasy novels and there have been quite a few dystopias lately. I do read general/adult fiction and NA, and every once in a while some Middle Grade (Percy Jackson is MG and I read the first book. Definitely need to continue that series).

Favorite thing about the blogging community:  There are so many people! I cannot express how happy it makes me to see so many different readers and reviewers on WordPress, Tumblr, Goodreads, and Twitter. I just love reading other people’s opinions and excitement over the books that they’re read. It gets me excited to read it too and I end up making my To-Read list even more unattainable.

Name the 5 books you want to read this year that you didn’t get to:  There are so so many, but here are five (no particular order):

  • Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass series) by Sarah J. Maas
  • Red Rising by Pierce Brown
  • The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo
  • A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
  • The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing? This is a really hard choice, because I have a lot of songs. I could say anything by Adele or Ed Sheeran, which would be true. However, I’m going to go with Vixx’s Error. If you haven’t heard of Vixx, it’s a South Korean boy group that is absolutely amazing. Here’s the music video for Error if you want to see it.

Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with:  Maybe many people will have this answer, and I know this has always been my answer for this type of question, but J.K. Rowling. She is hands down, the author I want to meet the most. She has inspired and influenced me in so many ways. I am so thankful to her and her stories, and I would love to chat with her about them and her experiences.

So, I hope this helps you get to know me a little bit more. If you’re not participating in Love-A-Thon, but want to tell me about yourself, leave a comment below (By the way, you can still sign-up for it. Just click one of the hosts’ page and get started). If you are participating, let me know so I can read your posts! Until next time, my fellow adventurers!

    • Haha, that hat really is awful. I don’t know what they were thinking. I have A Darker Shade of Magic, and I cannot wait to read it, but I have a few more books lined up before that one.
Thanks and I wish the same for you!

    • ED SHEERAN IS AMAZING! It’s so hard to choose a favorite but it would probably be Wake Me Up but Thinking Out Loud is a really really close second.
Thank you so much! I’ve been having a great time this weekend 😀

  2. Yay for Harry Potter! I would love to meet J. K. Rowling, too … I think she’s amazing! 🙂 I haven’t bought a physical book in months but I do have the illustrated Harry Potter in my shopping cart … I can’t wait to read it – and share it with my kids one day!

  3. Like you, I need to get on the Red Rising series. Everybody I know just freaked out over the last book and yell at me to read it. I should because apparently space awesomeness! And I do love space books!
